On 11 December 2001, China became member of the World Trade Organization (WTO). To fulfill the requirements for its accession China also needs to align technical regulations, standards and conformity assessment procedures with the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade. It therefore established the China Compulsory Certification scheme (CCC). CCC includes measures and principles for conformity assessment, including a uniform product catalogue, compulsory requirements for technical regulations, standards and conformity assessment procedures.
